Well the contest season is pretty much over the exams are around the corner and your parents are more interested in you getting A’s than scoring barrels, which goes without saying really.
Parents, what are you going to do with your kids these holidays when the kids break up and you are still obliged to hit the grindstone every day.
In the back of your minds, all the kids can think about is getting exams over and done with so that they can go on holiday and surf all day, every day.
That’s where Waves School of Surfing comes in; this December holiday WSS will be running its yearly high-performance coaching camp in Mossel bay. The HPC camps will start from the 1st of December and run through until the 8thth of January 2017.
These camps are ideal, as they are not only focused on improving technique but also have a holiday adventure aspect where we go searching for waves and focus on having fun too.
Planning needs to start fairly early, as it is peak season in Mossel Bay and accommodation is seriously scarce. The best place where you can get good value for money at a prime location is the POINT VILLAGE HOTEL, the alternative option is dinner and breakfast at WSS but there is limited space so book early. At WSS’s accommodation, the kids will have access to uncapped wifi, swimming pool and plenty of DVD’s.
There are three options to get to Mossel bay, first been the Intercape, quite simply e-mail the lovely ladies at Shell garage in Voorbaai and they’ll take care of everything for you, shellvoorbaai3@telkomsa.net
The second option is to fly up from Cape Town or down from Durban, WSS will pick you up at the bus stop or at the airport.
The third option is to bum a lift with someone already coming up or get a few friends together with a parent who is also keen to get away and go surfing
The day will basically consist of first and foremost finding the best possible wave for the day, surfing all morning then taking a break for lunch and video analysis. After which we go surf again and work on technical aspects and also have a bit of an expression session while WSS take photos.
By the time the kids get back home all, they want to do is eat and sleep. These camps are not only for the advanced or elite they are also for anyone who wants to have fun and improve their surfing.
These camps are a great way to have the kids doing what they love doing in a safe and fun environment.
